Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern #3008

I specialize in working with couples and families as they navigate the different stressors and seasons of life. This includes intrapersonal difficulties the individual within the family is dealing with, such as anxiety, depression, addiction, etc., as well as the interpersonal struggles that exist within the family or couple structure and relationships.

What is your main goal when working with a client?

My primary goal is to help a client reach a place of health, healing, and restoration in whatever area they may be working through. I seek to achieve this by working with the clients to set their own obtainable goals for the therapeutic journey.

What is your approach and what methods do you employ?

I use a client-centered approach that focuses on the experiences and feelings of both the individual and the couple/family relationships and dynamics. This includes exploring the individual’s inner reality, as well as the external reality of the patterns that exist within the context of relationships.

What age groups do you most often work with?

I most often work with couples and families of all ages.

Are you passive or active in the session, what can a client typically expect sessions to be like while working with you?

The session is centered on the client, their goals, and their needs. I actively work with the client through different means to help them achieve their goals. This requires a balance of taking both a passive and an active role within each session. While at times I may initiate different tools that can be helpful for the client, I am also intentional in listening to the client and providing a safe place for the client to process through the areas that brought them into counseling.

What is your background and what are your credentials?

My background is in Religious Studies. After several years of working with youth students and their families, I started to pursue my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy in Summer of 2015 and will finish in Summer of 2018.

What is the reason you decided to get into counseling?

Through my own life experiences and the experiences of my loved ones, I have a strong desire to help people achieve healing and redemption in their own lives. I have experienced firsthand the healing and growth that can come through counseling, and I desire that for all people.
