Curtis McGown, LMHC
Curtis McGown, LMHC has served the counseling needs of Central Florida with Gilstrap
& Associates since 2007. He has provided counseling services to individuals,
couples, and families, as well as conducting mental health assessments for a variety
of clients. He has served as a Qualified Supervisor for Registered Mental
Health Counselor Interns and Student Interns training to become professional counselors.
He has developed and delivered trainings about Conflict Resolution, Communication
Skills, Anger Management, Stress Management, Group Leadership, Lay Counseling, Marriage,
Parenting, and Calling. He has provided consulting for churches and organizational
leaders regarding best practice care services.
Curtis and his family are now in the process of transitioning from Gilstrap &
Associates in Orlando, Florida to The Well Member Care Center (www.thewellcm.com)
in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Curtis will be serving as a Counselor/Speaker for
the missionary population throughout Asia. He will provide counseling services
for individuals, couples, and families. He will have the opportunity to be
a speaker for missionary conferences and retreats addressing topics such as Marriage,
Parenting, Conflict Resolution, Lay Counseling, and Team Building. Curtis
will lead team building workshops, as well as, conducting assessments and leading
resolution for team conflicts. He will also function as an outsourced consultant
for the leadership of missionary organizations in the care of their missionaries.
Although The McGown Family will be serving the missionary population in a support
role, they will be sent as missionaries from Pioneers (www.pioneers.org). Curtis
is ending his practice with Gilstrap & Associates in December 2011, in order
to raise the financial support necessary for The McGown Family to move to Thailand
and serve in this position. Their goal is to move to Thailand in June 2012.
